The Space Program

With all the money talk going around and people commenting about all the different ways money is being wasted, I haven't really heard anyone mention the space program.

The amount of money thrown away to the space program is insane, we're talking billions, and for what? How much have we actually benefitted from all of this? Sure, launching satellites is important, but how many do we really need up there? And then there are all the other missions they do, like the mars missions, personally I think this is just complete wastes of money.

Not to mention all the failed launches that have cost lives or we watch a few billion dollars go up in flames....all for stupid reasons like finding water on mars or something.

It just doesn't make much sense to me.

That's one I would like to see, how much in total, has been wasted to send little remote controlled vehicles to mars. It's got be over like 5 billion dollars by now, just so some nerds came drive these things around another planet.

I don't mind them spending a little money to send a satellite, if it gets me more tv channels or higher def.

But yea, there is a ton of money wasted in the space program. And many of the lives lost, were for stupid things, really, were those missions that important? Save the money and technology for when we really need it, like if a doomsday meteor were coming.
