High speed Chases

I think the police need a new way to go about chasing criminal, other than a high speed pursuit, it seems like almost all high speed chases end up in a major crash. Most of the time some innocent person gets hit and injured or even killed. Basically, the police are contributing to the endangerment of many people , just to catch one or two petty criminals.

I know that in some places, the police do have rules about not chasing someone, once they reach a certain speed. If the chase reaches that speed, the police have to stop chasing. Sure, a few criminals are most likely going to get away, but that's way better than having some innocent person get injured or killed.
